Like most people and small/medium sized companies the cliché of "Everything happens for a reason" can either be one of the most frustrating things to hear as a business owner or it can be a positive way to move yourself forward both personally and professionally. This was the case for me and my company MICEport over the last two years.
Despite the pandemic, some crazy world politics and a seemingly never ending bad news cycle, we found it allowed us to be a little more introspective to see what we do well, what needs improvement, what to let go and how can we make our community/world a little better. I won't bore you with the details but needless to say we made tough decisions and made it out the other side.
For instance, in 2021, we had to change our logo due to certain events within the US market that had nothing to do with us but the image association was too close for comfort. It was a tough decision to change our logo, due to the fact that it had been our logo since we started the company 10 years ago.
So we changed our logo and our entire brand and this enabled us to work with a great university in Dublin and a great friend in Dublin who has had an advertising agency for many years. Without these things happening to our brand, I am not sure that we would have had the opportunity to work with each other and to come up with such an interesting new brand for MICEport while also having a lot of fun and creative sessions.
